Tools vs Courses

In my quest to become an SEO copywriter, it seems to me that using free SEO tools to learn the craft is preferable to courses, which cost hundreds of euro and appear to contain a lot of irrelevant material.

Am I right?

Can you learn driving with the car's user manual ?

Same thing for SEO.

If you don't know the theories the tools won't help much (they can help up to a certain extent actually but that won't go far and many of them are crap)

Attending some short course on how to write can help you more on being a good SEO copywriter, SEO is easy to learn and understand.
