I set this forum very recently, as most of you know and I would love to see it grow to become a useful and interesting community.

If anybody has any feedback, thoughts, ideas, critique or whatever I would love to hear it.

You asked for feedback. :p

You can only do so much SEO to get people visiting the forum but it's important to turn guests into members and members into posting members and to that, for a good few people, an aesthetically pleasing design is needed. Some people are fickle in that way.

The default template isn't going to help.

There is no need to search for a suitable template as most templates out there for vb are horrible. A few alterations to the CSS in the admin panel and the 'colouring in' of the default images will provide a unique design.

I can rustle something up for you if you like?

Just an idea off the top of my head.....

At the moment, the URL leads directly into the forum which, as RedFly says, is like a thousand others.

How about a designed front page with a sort of news/articles/about type of interface? This would give the site the colour it lacks. Obviously, this page would lead straight into the forum.

Just an thought?

Yes and I normally appreciate feedback, however if you tell me that the site looks like it is a hobby......

I said "I get the vibe" and was only providing requested feedback. Feedback to better the forum for everyone. There was nothing malicious intended and it was only constructive criticism.

How about having some forum members write articles/ how to's etc as content for the site. Drives more traffic to the site plus the members could plug their own business or service.

VBadvanced is the VBulletin portal system. Personally i don't like it. It is very clan related.

I would also like to see an article system.
And a planet for Irish webmaster blogs whereby syndicated content can be served up on this domain.

Cool :) ....

I'll mess about some design on my testing forum when i have a chance.

I was looking for a VB article system, but the only one that existed seems to have gone the way of the Dodo

Gah. Ok Ok. I said I'd do it. I'll see if I can get it done this afternoon / evening..

Just over in my reader and was looking at your ad:

"Have a look at this: Irish Webmaster Chat!Swap tips and tricks with fellow webmasters"

Well I've been reading my copyrighting books the last while and I suggest something like the following:

"Want FREE advice, tips and help from Ireland's top webmasters? Get all that and more over at Irish Webmaster Forum."

God I cringe writing it but I do reckon it will convert better.

I'll have a look at that later - thanks

I think you have to put in a bit before the ad.. not 100% sure though

I just noticed that there is no techy computer forum on here...

There seems to be a fair amount of threads on people looking for tips on getting started with Linux/Mac stuff and there is no designated forum for it..

And what with Vista coming up into the mainstream in'all...

And also what with us folk using komputers in'all...

Wouldn it do any harm in adding one in...

Thoughts?
