Hello

Hi guys,

Have read posts on this forum for a couple of months and took the plunge last night to join. I'm a full time web developer with experience in Joomla, Drupal, html, a smidgin of flash but I'm terrible with search engines. Thinking of doing some courses to help that.

Hi Everybody

Hi all.
I've set up a new company and I trying to promote it on the search engines.
My company is called Trade Shutters. We manufacture plantation shutters. (Somewhat of a rarity in these Irish parts)
Any pointers or advice anyone could offer on how to tackle this daunting task would be much appreciated.
I'm also taking a FAS course in web design for beginners. Any opinions on what are the best software packages out there. Pros, cons, etc.
Thanks in advance.
Barry

N00b alert

Hi all, maybe n00b isn't the truth. More like lapsed amateur.

I have attempted a website for a friend and from reading some of the threads on the forum have quickly seen how far out of depth I currently am regarding seo. As it stands, the site (username plus com) isn't even on any search engine yet.

I will continue plugging and plodding through the community until I find something. If there are any pointers, I'd greatfully accept.

Thanks

Mods, if I have contravened policy for the bracketted entry I apologise and will remove.

Hi All - just found this site as a result of Facebook!! One up for Facebook!! Well, what do I say - I am based in Mayo and have been testing the water as regards Web Design for about 10 Years. I went away from it for a while and started studying and have now become an Accountant - probably chalk and cheese but in any case variety. Now I am ready for some serious work - either Accountancy or Web Design and not quite sure how to promote myself...on a shoestring budget - Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have a website (which needs attention) but like everything else it is put on the back burner - for those of you interested in taking a look at my website PM me - all comments/critisicms will be taken on board.

Thx:D

@Sinead - I'd recommend posting a separate thread about promotion ideas :)

Hello everyone

Hi all,
Just joined and invited to introduce myself which is always a good start.

I have been away from webdevelopment for many years and now looking at Joomla CMS as a platform for a website which is in the very early stages in development.

I think I put the cart before the horse in the sense I paid for hosting way too early with blacknight and still havent used it as still problems with development.

Anyway as regards Joomla and hosting I would be grateful if someone could put me straight as regards the best option for Joomla IIS or Apache or Linux server...

Also wondering if it is possible to get instructions for the Control panels used by blacknight and/or tutorial on how to configure a website on the server.

Many thanks and look forward to using this site.

Go raibh mile maith agaibh

Introduction

Hello all,

This really does appear to be a great forum. Lots of tips, tricks, and good advice from what I've seen so far. Looks like a strong community, which is something I like in a forum.

I've been playing with the web and websites for about 10 years, and over the last few months learned a lot about Joomla, PHP, and MySQL... next step is to finally take the plunge and go all out in the web industry.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and more importantly, learning from people in the industry.
